Baby Bunnies

Here are a couple of the kits from the Hershey x Pee Wee breeding. Love this lilac colour , I have kept back 2 females from this litter. One is Hope who is a lilac vienna marked and the other is Hip Hop a solid lilac.I have plan on breeding them both back to Pee Wee this Spring in hopes of some lilac harlequins :) 

 Love this little tort vienna marked kit from the Sammie x Pee Wee breeding. It's a little doe and to boot it has 2 blue eye's :)We may end up keeping her if she does not sell.

This little Harlequin doe is so adorable. I love how no two look the same - even on the same side each side of the rabbit looks different :)

This upcoming month will be very busy here on the homestead as we have 8 litters planned for February. I really hope that all 8 does took as we have not had much luck this winter getting the does to take. I believe that I read somewhere that it has to do with the hours of daylight.

Sammie x Pee Wee 3 weeks old

So happy with this litter but sadly the lighter coloured Harlequin was stomped by it's momma and did not survive.

I have bred a few females this pat week so crossing my fingers that all the females have taken ! I bred Cleo to Moose, Spotted Momma to Pee Wee, Hershey to Pee Wee and Cassie to Pee Wee. All 4 females are due the first week of February.

Love Them Babies !!

Just some baby bunny goodness this morning. I took the nest box out several days ago as this litter is almost 3 weeks old. Boy do they leave a whole bunch of bunny berries!!

This little black kit loves to stick out it's tongue :) I have a few pictures of it doing this!

Sammie x Pee Wee - New Litter

Sammie gave birth to 8 beautiful babies yesterday morning while I was out feeding the rabbits :) It is so neat to see a bun giving birth and it's not something that I get to witness very often. For the most part I think that buns have their babies in the dead of the night so I feel extra blessed when I get to see them give birth.

There are 2 nicely marked harlequins up in this litter. I have to say that I was expecting there to be more kits with nice harlequin markings as Pee Wee is pretty nicely marked. However I guess that for he most part this litter took after Sammie who is a very lightly marked Harlequin. We may end up keeping the two best from this litter but that will depend on available cage space too.

I have to say that I am really loving how this litter is coming along! These kits have such super sweet personalities.We will be keeping this one. 

I could sit all day and just watch them play all day! This one really does not have a brassy overlay to the fur, just my camera being dumb again. It's so hard to get a good photo of these babies as they just always want to be moving around :)

This little one is just adorable, love the wee little white toes and the star on it's head !

This one is amazing in it markings, the one white leg is so cute :) My kids have been calling it Rocket because the minute someone stops at the cage door to peek in it races all the others to be first to get loved on :) Pictures of the other 3 to come later on today!

10 days old

Just a quick little update on Hershey and Pee Wee's babies, they are 10 days old now and just as cute as a button :) Everyone is doing great ! I expect their eyes to open in the next couple of days and then the should start exploring shortly after that.

The little VM black kit in the front has stolen my son's heart. Wade tends to be very partial to kits that look like this one. This is going to be a hard litter to say good bye to - everyone here is already so attached to these little buggers. I wish that we could keep them all !

Baby Update

This litter is just amazing :) The little silvery kits appears as though they will be lilac's and we may also have a chestnut up in the litter. They are now 4 days old and doing great.I wish they had more white on them from the vienna gene but maybe in the next litter.

Cassie X White Toes

Cassie is such a sweet momma and has done an excellent job raising up this litter :)

This is White Toe's first litter and I have to say that I am quite please with him - I really need to get a more recent picture of him as this is from when he was 9 weeks old.

All of these guys are being sold as the only one I really wanted was the black VM male but I wanted him to be a her :)I have rebred Cassie to Pee Wee - maybe there will be one in that litter I will keep. Kinda sad that both white's were REW and not BEW.

Hershey x Pee Wee

Hershey gave birth to 7 beautiful babies on 11/29/12 :) She was bred to my buck Pee Wee

I need to get an updated photo of my little man :) He is 9 weeks old in this photo.

The 3 dark ones will be blacks or chestnuts and the other 4 are either opals or lilac's - not quite sure yet.

We will be keeping one or two of the dilutes back from this litter.

Cleo x Moose

This litter turned out super nice - out of the 5 babies 2 of the passed away. These two below are up for sale and we are retaining a nice Vienna marked doe who we are calling Cocco. I will put pictures of Cocco up soon. 

So Busy !! ( Long Post)

Life has been so busy that I have not had a chance to post in quite a while. The rabbits are all doing wonderful. Here is Spotted Momma and her 8 babies. This is a litter by Sir Poops A Lot , these babies are 4 1/2 weeks old. I am super happy with this litter as she has never had this many brokens in any of her other litters. I will be reserving a nice broken blanket chestnut male from this litter, I will get some pictures of just him posted in the next week or so.

Fern also had a very nice litter by Sir Poops A Lot. These guys are just a few days younger than the above litter. She had 2 Harlequins that are lightly marked, 2 blacks and 8 chestnuts. I can always count on Sir Poops A Lots to throw some odd kits, He always throws Harlequin or black tort kits.

However it looks like he has yet thrown another surprise at me. This is a litter from Silver that was sired by him. These babies are only 4 days old. It will be a few days before I can tell if these kits are fawn or chocolate tort.I am really hoping that they are chocolate torts !! Either way if they are female I will pick the best one of the two to keep.

Update

Momma chicken has finally reappeared with 3 beautiful baby chicks. I am so happy that the fox did not make a meal of her!

I spent a good part of the day reorganizing the rabbit area. I is a work in progress :) I also got the new pen put in place - it becomes way to heavy to lift when it is fully put together.After finals are over I will get back to building on it. I need around 3 more hutches before winter sets in - need to hurry as snow should begin to fall around the end of October.

Cleo is doing great with her brood, I have yet to snap a picture of the wee little one from Cassie's litter.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

    Sorry for not posting soon but it has been such a busy week here. As some of you may know I am a student at University of Maine at Augusta and it has been finals week. I have had two huge papers to write and been trapped in the house due to the rain.

    I have to say though as much as the rain has put a kink in my plans for finishing the rabbit hutch, the garden sure has loved all of this rain that we have been getting. The tomatoes have gone nuts and it looks like we will have a huge harvest of them.

    In other news I am almost finished with my dragon cross stitch. I am about 15 hours into it with maybe another 4 or 5 hours to go. My thread finally arrived in yesterday's mail so I will shortly be getting back to my Salem Sisters project.

    In bunny news Cleo's babies are doing wonderful and the one little black baby that I fostered from Cassie's litter is doing fantastic. I was really surprised as I did not expect the little black kit to make it as it is so much smaller than the kits from Cleo's litter. I will snap some pictures of them today if the rain lets up. We have two does due at the end of the month. Cali is due the 20th and Spotted Momma is due the 30th. I am really excited for both of these litters :)  

Rabbit Hutch

The rabbit hutch is almost done - it would have been done last night but I measured the door wrong so now I have to trim it down a bit. Moose and Pee Wee have already moved in and seem to be loving it. It's not pretty but it works very well :)

Sadly Cassie lost 2 of her 3 babies - I think that she just was not feeding them . I put the only surviving kit in with Cleo's litter but they are triple the black kit's size so I don't really expect the black kit to make it. I will re-breed her when I re-breed Cleo so that I will have a litter to foster to if need be.

A Finish and Rabbit Update

I have finally finished Sarah Hook. I must say that I am very please with how it turned out. Now I just have to get my truck fixed so that I can get down to Augusta to get it framed.

The little mystery kit from Cassie's litter turned out to be a tort - not sure if it is a blue tort or a black tort. It looks as though it might have little white toes :)

Fern's litter is doing great, lots of agouti's in this litter but also 3 lightly marked harlequins. Fern is such a wonderful momma :)

Here you can see that Fern is so exited to get scratches on her head. I just love the little harlequin kit that is beside her - I believe that it is a little buck (male). I am pretty sure the other two harlequins are females.

I love to sit and watch the bunnies play. Nothing makes me happier then sitting in my chair outside with a nice cup of coffee and my stitching while watching the babies. 

Speaking of stitching this is a long time UFO - matter of fact I had forgotten that I had even started it :) It is called Salem Sisters II and the designer is Plum Street Samplers.
